Caria: Heraklia – Latmos & Bozburun (5 or 8 days)

This is a interesting trek that forms part of the new long distance Carian trail from Herakleia to Stylos monastery and around Latmos Mountain. The trek allows you to immerse yourself in the way of life of the inhabitants of the quaint old stone and timber villages on the route; you will see local handcrafts, watch cheese and yoghurt making and enjoy village foods.
The trip includes a visit to the major Greek-Roman city of Herakleia as well as many opportunities to look at bulbs and birds. Our trail mainly follows ancient roads and migration routes in use since before Roman times in this spectacular area of rocky boulders, crevices and peaks.
Latmos Refounded in Hellenistic times

The Carian trail, running through the provinces of Muğla and Aydin is one of Turkey’s long-distance trekking routes. The 820km long hiking route covers the Carian region and passes by monuments from the Carian civilization that thrived in this region during Antiquity. The region has its own unique architecture and many ancient villages, untouched coves, hills full of olive and almond trees, and ancient cities, some of which are only accessible on foot.
We are going on a journey full of cultural, historical and natural beauty from the Mediterranean to the Aegean. We explore the backyard of the well-known centers of the Carian civilization, away from the well-known tourist centers and hike from the blues of the sea to the greens of the hills; from coastal towns to mountain villages.
