Shebi-Aruz Ceremonies This religious ceremony/festival is held in Konya every year to commemorate Mevlana, a great philosopher and the founder of suffism who has lived in 13th century.

Hot Air Balloon Ride Cappadocia, with its fantastic landscape and favorable weather conditions, is one of the most interesting places for hot air ballooning, according to many balloon pilots. There are several companies offering balloon rides. Our choice and recommendation as Middle Earth is, Cappadocia Balloons. The flights are very early in the morning so they are easy to fit into an itinerary.

Horseback Riding There are few ranches where they have horses for riding.

Underground City There are many underground cities in Cappadocia area. Some of them are said to date back to Hittite times and even further back but they were widely constructed and used by the very early Christian communities. (cappadocia1week)

Goreme Open Air Museum This whole area is (or was) a huge monastery complex, with many churches, all carved in to the rocks and some them holds the most beautiful and intact wall paintings in whole cappadocia region.

Zelve Open Air Museum Another rock cut, monastery complex. This one has turned into a small village later on and stayed that way until it was finally evacuated in 1954 by law, because of the danger caused by falling rocks.

Ihlara Valley A narrow gorge, carved by Melendiz river, it has high cliff walls. These walls again hold many early Christian churches carved in them. At the mouth where he gorge opens up is again a very big monastery carved in to the rock face.

Climbing Volcanoes, Hasan and Erciyes These two volcanoes are two of the main architects who created the magical landscape of Cappadocia. Hasan is 3267, and Erciyes is 3912 metres high. They are both reachable in two days with one night camping without technical climbing. But depending on the season walking with crampons and ice axes might be necessary.

Rafting Zamanti river, presents good rafting opportunities.

Bird Watching at Sultan Marshes Sultan Marshes (Sultan Sazlıgı) is a large wetland complex and one of the seven Ramsar Sites of Turkey and an important bird area that hosts many globally threatened bird species. Over 300 bird species have been recorded in the area. Sultan Marshes is located some 70 km southwest of Kayseri.
